First High-Level Workshop Sets Foundation for EU-Laos Cooperation on Deforestation-Free Trade

On 3 July, the EU Delegation to Lao PDR, in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry co-hosted the first High Level Workshop on EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) in Vientiane. The workshop was organized by European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao PDR (ECCIL).

The EUDR aims to guarantee that the products EU citizens consume do not contribute to deforestation or forest degradation worldwide and to increase competition in the export of goods from the Lao PDR to the EU market in the future.

This workshop provided a platform for mutual exchange and stakeholder dialogue among the line ministries, such as the Ministries of Agriculture and Forestry, Commerce and Industry and Natural Resources and Environment, on the EUDR.
