Largest European Trade Mission in Laos Strengthens Economic Ties

Vientiane, 19–20 March 2026 – EuroCham Laos had the honor of hosting the largest European trade mission ever organized in Laos, welcoming 20 Austrian companies to explore business and investment opportunities across key sectors, including infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, mining, and services.

The mission, organized in partnership with Advantage Austria, marked a significant milestone in strengthening economic relations between Laos and Austria. During the two-day program, EuroCham Laos facilitated over 90 targeted B2B and institutional meetings with Lao companies and government stakeholders, creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration and investment.

The program featured a presentation on Doing Business in Laos by EuroCham Laos President Tim Scheffmann, followed by a high-level networking reception at Amari Vientiane. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the Austrian Ambassador H.E. Katharina Wieser, the EU Ambassador to Lao PDR Mark Gallagher, the Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaythong Kommasith, and LNCCI Vice-President Dr. Xaybandith Rasphone, highlighting the mission’s role as a platform for dialogue and future partnerships.

EuroCham Laos extends its sincere thanks to Advantage Austria’s Michael Friedl for their trust and partnership. The success of this mission reflects ECCIL’s ability to deliver at scale and underscores the growing interest of European businesses in the Lao market.
